Week 3 Preview: Thursday Night Thrashing

Two exciting weeks in the books and the league is starting to kick into high gear. High scoring offenses, injuries, trash talk, etc.  Last night the Falcons beat the Bucs in one of the most lopsided victories i've ever seen live. I was going to make Vinegar Strokes (1-1) vs. Kissing Suzy Kolber (2-0) the matchup of the week but after last night's trashing, Vinnie finds himself in a 71-point hole with only three players suiting up last night. Brian reaped the benefits twice as he sat an injured Roddy White for Harry Douglas, who also caught a touchdown in the first quarter.  Julio Jones seems like an early lock for the player of the week with a 37-point outburst last night. Kissing Suzy Kolber was already slated for an off week and now has an even steeper mountain to climb to get to 3-0. Many league pundits have predicted that a few undefeated squads suffer their first loss this week and it may have claimed their first victim. Hopefully, Megatron, Forte and Rodgers can make this one interesting but for now, it looks like Brian shall cruise to his second win on the backs of his beloved Falcons.
Roddy didn't even dress last night and I still think I saw him haul in a few TD's
As mentioned before, 3 more undefeated teams also are in action this week and each face difficult matchups from teams with a combined record of 2-4. However, none of the teams are looking ahead to next week and are focusing to the task on hand, with numerous waiver pickups and a trade last Monday night where Rashad Jennings was sent to Beat Joe for the rights to Stevan Ridley. We'll see how that plays out...anyways, here's my take on the remaining set of games.

The Heismanberg's (0-2) vs. Team SSPD (1-1)
Two tough losses in a row for Cookies have the Heismanberg's sitting at their worst start to a season in their franchise's history. Looking to pick up his first W in 2014 although Peyton and Demaryius will have to put up a big game in front of the 12th man on Sunday. Current projections have the Berg's racking up 150 points even with the unfavorable matchups. As for Dom, he was roughed up by Josh last week in addition to losing a pair of starters to lengthy injuries. Adding Joe Flacco on waivers should soften the blow but will it be enough for Dom to pick up the big win against an upstart squad?
Whoops! Not for another 8 weeks Bobby G.
Taco Corp (0-2) vs. Beat Joe (2-0)
Even a defense couldn't help Dave last week, as Doug Martin forced his hand and Marques Colston essentially died on the field. Not much has gone right now for Puma Dave this year and there is turmoil in the Taco Corp front office. Last Sunday I got an alarming text from Dave stating that he formerly resigned from the league if he is not able to find another keeper or two. He'll need a repeat of last year's Super Bowl to knock off Beat Joe this weekend. Josh has scored a vast number of points so far and shows no signs of slowing up. Now that he has his coveted player Rashad Jennings, it is time for him to take the next step and claim his second title. Watch out for the reverse jinxes to be thrown out between this two all weekend. Dave has staked a psychological advantage but that can only take him so far. Vincent Jackson was underwhelming last night for Josh so maybe the jinx has already begun to swing in Dave's favor.
Dave desperately needs a repeat of this night to claim his first win
Two Cups, One Josh (2-0) vs. The DrewBree Brothers (1-1)
The Pommer-Fahrenz conglomerate scored their first victory last week as they fended off Dave to get their first win with the addition of Professor Gigglepepper. Trying to put the Week One choke behind them, the Brothers are looking for the big upset this week at the hands of TCOJ. Although it looked like Bobby Rainey (LeVeon Bell's replacement) would go negative for Joe, he squeaked out 10 points in garbage time to grab an early lead. Joe is looking to start 3-0 for the first time in his career with Cam Newton leading the charge as he's TCOJ's last line of defense on Sunday night. The Brothers will have their work cut out for them since Chris Ivory, "Touchdown" Antonio Brown and Markus Wheaton play in the night games. This one will go down to the wire and even Joe predicted his first loss this week...reverse jinx or nah?
Will we see this Eddie Lacy on Sunday?
Schenectady Schmeckles (0-2) vs. Team Next Year (0-2)
Who could've predicted the downfall of Adrian Peterson when Chreeyusz made a trade for him in the offseason? It has derailed his team for this season and just when he gets a glimmer of hope, he beats another child. Sickening, really but back to the matchup. Both teams are hungry for their first win this season and will stop at nothing to avoid going 0-3. Injuries and suspensions have not helped either team but their teams have been respectable so far. Chreeyusz had his team collectively shit the bed last week in a blowout while the Schmeckles came up short once again. Chreeyusz will need to rely heavily on his duo of Cutler and Alshon Monday night to give him any chance of a victory while Chris Casey looks to dial up some more magic between Philthy Phil and Antonio Gates. Should be a close one.
TNB.
Shooter McGavin (2-0) vs. The Nard Dawgs (1-1)
We'll round out this week's preview with the defending champ, Shooter McGavin. Shooter rolled to another win on the backs of Jordy Nelson, Darren Sproles and Andrew Luck once again. However, Nick moved himself down to fourth on the power rankings just to give him some extra motivation. He'll need a strong performance from his lineup once again as he faces off against The Nard Dawgs this weekend. Will picked up his first win this season after a big week from Gio Bernard, who is looking like one of the stronger keepers this season. Now that Brandon Marshall is off his bench, The Dawgs have officially put Shooter on upset alert and we what Shooter does when he feels like he's going to lose...this guy gets brought into the mix...
Watch out Will, Shooter's got some tricks up his sleeve.
