Week 5 Recap: DE-THRONED

Largest Margin of Victory: The Heismanbergs over The DrewBree Brothers - 42.9
Most Points Scored: Kissing Suzy Kolber - 148
Least Points Scored: The DrewBree Brothers - 82

Unsung Hero of the Week: Russell Wilson - 38.7 Points
Biggest Fantasy Duds: LeSean McCoy, Pierre Garcon
Best Waiver Pickup: Packers D (Slob On My Cobb) - 22 Points

For the fourth straight year in the Slushie Sundays league, there will not be an undefeated team. With a loss last night, Shooter McGavin, your defending champ once again fell to his baby brother Chreeyusz for the 4th straight time in their rivalry. In his first year (2012), Chreeyusz blew his brother out of the playoffs in the first round, which would go on to be the most lopsided playoff victory in league history. He has never lost to Dom or Nick and continues to reign over the Caputo household. Of course, none of this can be completely vilified until he wins my newest nightstand companion (the trophy, of course) but for now, Nick's undefeated hopes have been dashed by a 9th grader. Just how I drew it up.

Coming down to the wire, Nick put up 115 points but did not have enough to keep his streak going. An earlier trade with Chreeyusz on Wednesday was ultimately the difference as new additions Golden Tate and Terrance Williams shined in their debuts for Team Next Year. Since Shooter loses, Slob On My Cobb has cemented themselves atop the power rankings for yet another week with an impressive victory over main rival, Joe.

The rest of the pack began to tighten up and teams are starting to make their collective pushes towards the playoffs. Injuries have been piling up with each passing week and it is crucial to remain active in trades and on the waiver wire. For the bottom four teams, (Chris, Will, Aaron, Dave) there is still alot of time left and the 2-3 record is shared by 5 different teams in the league.

The AFC beat eachother up in division play and now first and last place has separated themselves by two measly wins. Four teams are in a tie for third and aren't even playing their best at the moment. I expect it to be a real dogfight to the finish that even Michael Vick couldn't resist getting in on the action.

Shooter McGavin  -   114.7
Team Next Year    -   117.1
Chreeyusz continues his dominance over his oldest brother with a crushing 3-point defeat as he reaped the benefits of the trade a few days ago. New additions Terrance Williams and Golden Tate combined for nearly 40 points as Shooter watched his new weapon, Pierre Garcon get locked up by the Seahawks secondary. The win now puts Team Next Year as the 5-seed and is starting to pick up steam with their 3rd win in a row after swearing off the entire season. In a 3-way tie for 3rd, Chris can now start thinking playoffs instead of 2015. As for Shooter, he looks to regroup against Team Chicken Parm U Taste So Good (Joe) in what should be a potential playoff matchup. Nick still holds a nice 1.5 game lead in the division but he'll just have to hope he doesn't play Chreeyusz again this year and he'll be sure to never trade with his weekly opponent again.
Miss Me Yet? Golden Tate shows Nick what he'll be missing

Taco Corp   -  111.4
Team SSPD   -  99.6
Two teams that were viewed as underrated and underappreciated this season have put the league on notice, knocking off huge opponents with a combined 4 wins. In one of the most nerve-racking matchups this season, Dave cashed in on his leader, Russell Wilson, running all over the Redskins to earn him a second win. Taking Wilson in the 7th round although he kept Rodgers seemed questionable at first but knew exactly what he was doing all along and Wilson has been playing at an elite level all season. Suffering a loss of Montee Ball could trip up Taco Corp next week but their stock is on the rise and are poised for another playoff run. Team SSPD had the lead the entire weekend but the Seahawks and the mighty leg of Phil Dawson proved to be too much for Dom. Team SSPD is already on pace to shatter their franchise record in wins this season but a win this weekend would've kept them in a tie for first. Lacking the consistent lineup play of previous weeks cost Dom a chance at 4-1. Next week could prove to be very difficult against Kissing Suzy Kolber although his team is extremely banged up and missing key cog Jimmy Graham to a bye so Dom can't be stung by his former keeper.
Dave drafting Russell Wilson later in the draft has come up smelling like ROSES
Kenny Kawaguchi  -    93.3
Slob On My Cobb   -  129.6
There isn't a hotter commodity than DeMarco Murray right now and he resides on the best team in the league. Slob On My Cobb provided another convincing win against Joe this weekend to retain Josh as the top dog in the Power Rankings. Dez Bryant and Randall Cobb have complimented Murray perfectly and even with Eli at the helm, Josh has scored the most points by far, averaging over 120 per game. An injury to Rashad Jennings stings but Mommy Slut has the firepower to compete with anyone in this league. Watch out guys. For Joe, the name change couldn't help him again this week as his squad went under 100 points for an unprecedented 3rd straight week after looking so impressive early on. Shady McCoy had a better game but still didn't crack double digits and with Arian Foster on the bench, Joe fell to 2-3 and is the current 8th seed. He can get back on track next week against Nick in his birthday week.
Cobb Slobbin': Josh takes control of the Slushie Sundays league

The Heismanbergs      -    124.9
The DrewBree Brothers -     82
The Cookie Man. Slow start, strong finish. His team is finally back after three rough weeks to begin the season. The Heismanbergs, as expected, are carried by the dynamic duo of Demaryius Thomas and Peyton Manning, combining for 78 points on their own in a rout of The DrewBree Brothers. The rest of Ben's team is still lagging behind (Keenan Allen, Percy Harvin) but it is a sign of good things to come over the next few weeks as the Broncos' bye has now passed. Currently sitting in the 7th seed, The Bergs look to make it three in a row against the upstart Vinegar Strokes who is losing Jamaal Charles on a bye. As for the Pommer-Fahrenz (Drew STILL has yet to pay) partnership, it might be time to hit the panic button. Back to back 30+ point losses are one thing, but losing Drew Brees in a pivotal matchup against The Nard Dawgs could be fatal. Antonio Brown is finally starting to slow his torrid pace that he started the season with and the Brothers are in need of another repeat performance from Eddie Lacy.
This pair of Broncos has Cookies back in the saddle.
The Nard Dawgs  -  99.6
Vinegar Strokes  -   99.1
Will had to sweat it out through every Alfred Morris carry but he was finally rewarded with his 2nd win by the narrowest of margins. It was a must win game for The Dawgs to avoid falling to 1-4 on the season. A clutch flex play of Justin Forsett was the difference as only 4 of his players reached double digits. Will's squad has underperformed the entire year and is poised to break out in the upcoming weeks after the byes. He takes on the Pommer-Fahrenz brain trust in an attempt to get back to .500. Brian, who's dealt with his share of injuries already this season will now lose out on Jamaal Charles on his bye week against  the high powered Heismanbergs. The Falcons trio needs to post a big week to match Ben's Broncos if he has any chance of getting to 4-2. Expect a shootout in the Bears-Falcons game. Brian's RB2 shall be interesting once again as I doubt he will go back to the well for another helping of Bishop S(t)ankey.
May The Forsett Be With You
Kissing Suzy Kolber  -    148
Sch'dy Schmeckles     - 107.1
Poor Schmeckles. They've received terrible luck so far in their first stint in the league landing at 0-5. Chris has assembled a competitive roster and has nothing to show for it with yet another tough luck loss against Kissing Suzy Kolber. Philip Rivers has played like an MVP so far but the fact that it hasn't translated into a single win is shocking. Chris has scored 95 points or better in 4 of the 5 weeks but his opponents are averaging a cool 125 POINTS PER CONTEST. He's had more points scored on him than the Raiders, Jets and Jaguars combined. When will the bad luck end? Kissing Suzy Kolber had a huge bounce back performance after beign throttled in the previous two weeks. Back over .500, Vinnie's team is a game and a half out of first along with Brian but a throng of injuries plague his roster. Megatron and Jimmy Graham were shaken up while Eric Decker remains hurt and Pierre Thomas is on a bye. He'll look to piece together a lineup this week against Dom to keep pace for the division lead.
Discount Double Check: Rodgers has Vinnie on the rise.
